EB-1A translation: evidence for all ten criteria, one glossary

EB-1A petitions from Chinese applicants typically include hundreds of pages of Chinese evidence. We translate them criterion by criterion, with consistent names and terms across the whole petition and a translator's declaration on every document.

USCIS requirement: Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), every foreign-language document submitted to USCIS must be accompanied by a full English translation certified by the translator as complete and accurate, with a statement of competence. Missing certifications and inconsistent terminology across exhibits are common reasons for EB-1A RFEs.

Seven core evidence categories and how we translate them

Scholarly articles and indexing records

Criterion 6, and support for criterion 5. Typically the title, abstract and author block of each paper, the journal introduction (publisher, circulation, indexing) and CNKI/Wanfang citation reports. Journal names use the official English title so they can be found in databases.

Media coverage

Criterion 3. Full article text plus masthead information (outlet, issue, date, page and author) and evidence that the outlet is major media. One English name per outlet across the whole petition.

Award certificates and award background

Criterion 1. The certificate (issuer, citation, level) plus the award introduction and official winners list, so the officer can judge how selective the award is. Award levels are never inflated in English.

Leading or critical role evidence

Criterion 8 — one of the most error-prone categories. Appointment letters, employment verification letters, org charts and the organization's profile; Chinese job titles are rendered with their established English equivalents rather than literal guesses.

Patents and adoption evidence

Criterion 5. Usually the patent certificate plus the abstract and claims rather than the full specification, with independent and dependent claims kept in structure — and the licensing, application or adoption letters that show impact.

Recommendation letters and recommender materials

Letters written in Chinese are translated with one glossary for the whole case; recommenders' CVs and credentials are translated so their standing is clear. Facts in letters must match the rest of the evidence word for word.

Education records

Degree and graduation certificates, CHSI verification reports and transcripts, using each school's official English name and consistent course names.

FAQ

How many EB-1A criteria do I need to meet?

At least three of the ten regulatory criteria in 8 CFR 204.5(h)(3), or evidence of a one-time major internationally recognized award. Your attorney decides which criteria to argue and how to organize the evidence; we translate exactly what the attorney selects.

Which documents need translation in an EB-1A petition?

Every non-English document submitted — awards, media articles, papers and citation records, patents, appointment and employment letters, recommendation letters written in Chinese and education records — each with a translator's certification.

Can the translations be submitted to USCIS directly?

Yes. Every order includes a translator's declaration (full name, signature, credentials, date and statement of competence and accuracy) plus our registered bilingual translation seal, which meets 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3).

How is an EB-1A translation priced?

Certified translation is $16 per page, counted from the real pages of your upload; minimum order $25. Large petitions often run to hundreds of pages, so you see an itemized quote per file before paying.

How do you keep terminology consistent across hundreds of pages?

Each case gets one glossary for names of people, institutions, awards and technical terms, applied across all files — including files sent in later batches — so the same award or institution never appears under two different English names.
