Hukou translation: the whole booklet or just my page?

Which pages to submit is set by the receiving authority's checklist; every page you submit must be translated in full — at minimum the head-of-household page and your own page. With a collective hukou you usually only get a stamped copy of your own registration page, and that page is what gets translated.

The situation

A hukou booklet has a cover, a head-of-household page and one page per member. People registered under a school or employer's collective hukou have no booklet of their own.

What the rules say

8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requires a full English translation of each foreign-language document submitted, so every page you submit is translated in full — not just the name and birth date. For immigrant visas, civil facts such as birth are documented with notarial certificates from a Chinese notary office.

How we handle it

  • Every page you submit is translated in full, including move-in / move-out records, changes and every seal
  • A collective-hukou registration page is translated in its original layout, keeping the registering unit's and police station's seals
  • Hukou pages are priced by actual content, so translating only your page and the head-of-household page costs less

Price

Certified translation is $16 per real uploaded page (minimum order $25), including the translator's declaration and translation seal; the quote you see after uploading is the final price.
