Originally a weekly, it was soon changed to a daily newspaper. Its distribution covers Macao, China, and other regions. The founding purpose of the newspaper was "to serve society and express the voices of citizens." Its readers are mainly elites from all walks of life in Macao, tourists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China. In its early days, the newspaper primarily published local news from Macao and entertainment information. Later, it added international news and sports news, using movable type and lithographic printing. In 1978, it switched to offset printing. In 1992, it fully adopted computer laser typesetting, making the layout more aesthetically pleasing. On September 1, 2000, it switched to color printing, publishing four broadsheet pages daily, with two large sheets or an additional half sheet. The sections include "China Macao News," "China Hong Kong News," "China Mainland News," "China Taiwan News," "International News," "Comprehensive Sports News," and the supplement "Novel Edition." Opinion columns include "Voices of Citizens" and "Wen Ge Column." This newspaper is a comprehensive mainstream newspaper targeting all of Macao and is one of the oldest newspapers in Macao's history.
