It is supervised by the Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau (formerly under the supervision of the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Commission, under the former title Sichuan Laser), sponsored by the Chongqing Institute of Optics and Mechanics, and published and distributed by Chongqing Institute for Science and Technology Development Strategy Co., Ltd. together with the Laser Journal Editorial Board. The journal is approved by the National Press and Publication Administration for domestic and international public distribution and is officially recognized by the National Radio and Television Administration as an academic journal. It is a scholarly periodical primarily dedicated to reporting research on optoelectronic and laser technologies. Since 1992, it has been included as a source journal for the China Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations Database, and papers published in the journal have been indexed by EI (Engineering Index, USA). Laser Journal was among the first group of source journals selected for the China Journal Matrix. It is currently recognized as a Chinese Core Journal (listed in the A Guide to the Core Journals of China, Peking University Library, 2020 edition), a China Science and Technology Core Journal (CSTPCD), and a source journal of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database. It is also indexed by Chemical Abstracts (CA, USA) and JSI (Japan), and is included in the World Journal Impact Index (WJCI) Report. In addition, the journal received special publication funding from Chongqing Municipality for five consecutive years, from 2014 to 2018. Main columns: Comprehensive Reviews, Laser Physics and Devices, Optoelectronic Measurement and Detection, Optical Technology and Applications in Extreme Environments, Experimental Devices and Techniques, Optical Communication and Networks, Laser Applications and Systems, Image Processing, and Medical Optics. Laser Journal is a member unit of the Optoelectronic Technology Committee of the Chinese Optical Society and an executive director unit of the Chongqing Optical Society.
