Society Introduction The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society was founded in 1936 and is one of the earliest and largest engineering societies in China. It currently has 36 professional branches, 180,000 members, including more than 3,000 senior members, over 500 corresponding members, and more than 4,000 unit members. Academic exchange is the basic function of the society, and the society holds hundreds of diverse academic conferences every year. In particular, the annual conference of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society is a large-scale comprehensive meeting integrating various thematic activities. The annual conference includes keynote report meetings, thematic academic conferences, technology progress releases, forums, lectures, exhibitions, and award ceremonies, with rich content, having a significant impact within and outside the industry and even nationwide. Editing and publishing, along with academic conferences, are the two wings of academic exchange. Over the years, we have organized the compilation of hundreds of large-scale reference books, scientific and technological books, and related teaching materials, such as the "Encyclopedia of Chinese Materials Engineering," "Maintenance Manual," "Foundry Manual," "Welding Manual," "Forging Manual," and "Heat Treatment Manual." We have published more than 60 academic journals, including the "Journal of Mechanical Engineering" and "China Mechanical Engineering," which have played an important role in promoting the development of disciplines. Members are the main body of the society, the foundation and necessary condition for the society's existence, and the organizational guarantee for realizing democratic governance of the society. Serving members is the main task of the society's work and the sacred duty of the society's staff. To date, we have established a diversified membership structure and a multi-level service system, carrying out targeted member activities and actively developing member services with contemporary characteristics. The society's development experience over the years shows that members are the source of the society's vitality. Continuing education and professional qualification certification are effective forms of the society's service to society. Over the years, we have carried out fruitful work. In 1983, we founded the Mechanical Engineer Refresher University (now Beijing Mechanical Engineer Refresher College), and were the first in China to establish the "Mechatronics" and "Industrial Engineering" majors, and entrusted the National Examination Committee to conduct higher education self-study exams. The professional qualification certification work, represented by non-destructive testing and welding, emphasizes quality, serves the economy, and is widely praised by members and industry peers. In recent years, we have also actively promoted the international mutual recognition of engineer qualifications and the accreditation of mechanical engineering education programs. The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society is a very important channel for international exchange in China's machinery industry, undertaking a large number of international exchange and cooperation tasks entrusted by the industry and government departments. The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society represents China in joining 11 international organizations, has signed bilateral cooperation agreements with 45 top academic groups and professional organizations in 26 countries, and has established good working relationships with more than 1,000 research, teaching, design, manufacturing, consulting, intermediary, and social welfare institutions in over 60 countries and regions. Our society adheres to the combination of science and technology with the economy as the main line, always taking scientific and technological consulting as the main battlefield for promoting the close integration of society's work with economic construction, and actively building a platform to serve economic construction. We fully leverage the advantages of the society's talent pool and organizational network to actively carry out development strategy consulting and technical consulting for the government and enterprises. This not only makes society's activities more closely aligned with enterprises and serves the industry but also effectively accelerates the improvement of the society's own capabilities and overall strength. International exhibitions are one of the important forms of international exchange and cooperation for our society. Through the exhibition platform, we organize exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises and technical communities, promoting economic and trade development and industrial technological progress. As a masterpiece of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society in the exhibition field, the Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting Fair has become one of the two major welding professional exhibitions in the world. Our society has established the "China Mechanical Engineering Society Science and Technology Award" and, together with the China Machinery Industry Federation, established the "China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award." Over the years, we have recommended outstanding talents to the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and recommended excellent scientific and technological achievements for the National Science and Technology Award. We actively promote the scientific ideas of advocating independent innovation, adhering to scientific ethics, and pursuing harmonious progress, effectively mobilizing the enthusiasm and creativity of a wide range of scientific and technological workers. Our society also places great emphasis on work systems, work procedures, scientific management, and democratic governance. In 2004, we were the first national society to pass the ISO9001:2000 quality management system certification. This not only made our work more scientific and standardized but also gained recognition and praise from all sectors of society.
